About This Episode

Yeve Chitiga’s Background

Yeve Chitiga is a lawyer-turned-executive coach, speaker, and entrepreneur who has dedicated her career to helping attorneys and professionals navigate career transitions with clarity and confidence. After a decade in the legal industry, she realized that many lawyers—herself included—struggled with self-doubt, career uncertainty, and the pressure to follow a traditional path. Instead of staying in a role that no longer fulfilled her, Yeve took a leap into coaching, where she could directly help others make empowered career decisions.

“Lawyers deserve to be excited about what they do and what they want to do next. But the roadblocks we face aren’t just external—they’re often mental. Coaching helps you see past those barriers and move forward with confidence," shares Yeve Chitiga on You Are A Lawyer.

Through her company, Yevezo Coaching & Consulting, Yeve now works with clients across the world, helping them identify what truly excites them and build strategic plans to achieve their goals. Whether her clients want to move up in their firm, transition into a new field, or explore entirely different career paths, she helps them overcome limiting beliefs and take decisive action. Yeve’s approach is rooted in the belief that every lawyer has the potential to build a career that aligns with their unique values and aspirations—and that it’s never too late to pivot.

Why Law School

Like many aspiring lawyers, Yeve entered law school with a vision of making an impact, but her journey took several unexpected turns along the way. While she excelled in her legal career, she often found herself questioning whether the path she was on was truly right for her. The pressure to stay within a traditional legal role weighed heavily on her, but deep down, she knew she wanted something more.

"I’ve always been a creative at heart. Coaching is another expression of that creativity—helping people create the life they want, just like I did," reflects Yeve Chitiga on Episode 181 of You Are a Lawyer.

Rather than seeing her law degree as limiting, Yeve used it as a foundation to explore new opportunities. Law school gave her the tools to think critically, advocate effectively, and approach challenges strategically—skills that now serve her in coaching, entrepreneurship, and business consulting. Her legal education wasn’t a detour but a stepping stone, helping her develop the expertise and confidence to transition into a career that truly lights her up.

What Can You Do with a Law Degree

For Yeve, a law degree is not just a professional credential—it’s a powerful tool that can open doors to limitless possibilities. Throughout her coaching practice, she has worked with lawyers who have used their legal training to excel in business, government, nonprofit work, and creative industries. Her message is clear: lawyers don’t have to stay in traditional legal roles if they don’t want to. The skills they develop—critical thinking, negotiation, problem-solving, and adaptability—are transferable across industries.

“The legal mind that you develop in law school and as a practicing attorney is so powerful—it opens up the world to so much," emphasizes Yeve Chitiga on Episode 181 of You Are a Lawyer.

Yeve encourages lawyers to redefine what success looks like for them, rather than following a predetermined path. Whether that means transitioning into leadership, moving into policy, starting a business, or leveraging legal expertise in a new industry, there are countless ways to make an impact. Coaching, she believes, is an essential tool for helping lawyers break free from self-imposed limitations and see the bigger picture.

Lawyer Side Hustles

Yeve isn’t just a lawyer and a coach—she’s also a published author and entrepreneur who understands firsthand how side hustles can lead to larger opportunities. During the pandemic, she wrote a children’s book and built a media company to market it, an experience that deepened her understanding of branding, business development, and the power of storytelling.

“Being an entrepreneur is like bringing something into the world that didn’t exist before. It’s another way of creating, just like coaching,” shares Yeve Chitiga in Episode 181 of You Are a Lawyer.

Beyond her own creative ventures, Yeve works with clients who are exploring passion projects, launching businesses, or testing new career paths through side hustles. She believes that having a side hustle isn’t just about making extra income—it’s about giving yourself permission to explore new interests and develop new skills. Whether a lawyer wants to start a consulting practice, write a book, or build a personal brand, Yeve helps them develop strategic plans to integrate their legal expertise with their entrepreneurial vision. She emphasizes that these projects don’t have to be all-or-nothing; they can be stepping stones to even greater opportunities down the line.
