About the Host
You Are A Lawyer host, Kyla Denanyoh
Kyla Denanyoh is a storyteller, innovator, and unapologetic talker who turned her curiosity into a podcast with a global audience.
After working in Big Law as an operations coordinator, Kyla became fascinated by the many lawyers she met who didn't have traditional roles. This was intriguing because Kyla had not passed the Louisiana bar exam and was preparing for the Ohio bar exam.
She began to wonder: What does it really mean to be a lawyer?

In 2020, Kyla launched You Are A Lawyer, a podcast that shines a light on the diverse paths lawyers take with their degrees. Since then, she has interviewed 200+ guests, building a community of listeners who are creating extraordinary lives outside the courtroom.
While in law school at Southern University Law Center, Kyla served as Student Bar Association Parliamentarian and Editor-In-Chief of the school newspaper, The Public Defender. Her leadership, curiosity, and love of organization and conversation laid the foundation for the You Are A Lawyer podcast.
Kyla's mission is simple: to celebrate the many ways a legal education can shape a life and to humanize lawyers.
